After smashing the competition in 2021, JCR/Honda’s Preston Campbell has picked up where he left off in 2022 as he looks to defend his D37 Hare & Hounds title on the Kenda shod CRF450X.
Last weekend saw the 72nd annual Check Chase Hare and Hound hosted by The Checkers MC near the city of Ridgecrest in California.
Recent rain meant conditions were prime ahead of the race, with all riders taking on two 40-mile race loops.
Preston was comfortably inside the top five at the bomb, and quickly took control at the front of the pack to pen up a 1 minute gap at the end of the first loop. At the end of loop two he’d built up a sizeable lead to ensure a dominant win and a perfect start to the new season.
Team Principal and Baja legend Johnny Campbell commented:
“I am super proud of Preston and Gage for pulling off a win and a great start to the 2022 season. I have been getting updates from abroad as we chase the Dakar Rally with Monster Energy Honda supporting Ricky Brabec and the team. We are in a fight of our own right now and working hard to bring home a W on Friday. Thank you for all your support.”
