Gerston Crowned West Hare Scramble Champion

Another major US off-road racing title has been won on Kenda tyres in 2019, as Beta Factory Racing’s Max Gerston was crowned West Hare Scramble champion following the season finale at Wileysville, California.

This year’s West Hare Scramble series has been dominated by riders using Kenda product, with Gerston’s teammate Joe Wasson pushing him all the way after he claimed three wins of his own this season.

Gerston himself had claimed wins at Round 2 in Arizona, and Round 4 at Shasta, and with Am Pro Yamaha’s Ricky Russell also grabbing maximum points in Washington a total of six wins from a possible seven had gone had been taken on Kenda tyres heading into the final round of the year.

A tense penultimate round in Oklahoma saw Wasson and Gerston going head to head for the race win, with the pair separated by seconds for much of the race before Joe pushed his way past Max and really got his foot on the gas. Sensibly, Max reigned it in so as not to risk the championship with one round to go, and when it mattered he did just enough to seal the championship in California last weekend on his 28th birthday.

This isn’t the first time that Gerston has won the title, and based on his performances this year, we don’t think it will be his last either!
